Turkmenistan (English: Turkmenistan) is a Central Asian country and was once one of the union republic of the former Soviet Union. During the Soviet Union's period its name was Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic and declared its independence in 1991. The country is located in the north of Iran, borders with Afghanistan on the southeast, neighbors with  Uzbekistan in the northeast, faces Kazakhstan in the northwest, neighbors with the Caspian Sea in the west, and it is a landlocked country.

Since the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the state began to vigorously strengthen their Islamic culture as Russia’s influence in the local weakened.

Although Turkmenistan is one of the world's most arid areas, it is rich in oil and natural gas resources, and its natural gas reserves ranks fifth in the world. The oil and gas industry is the country's pillar industry. While cotton and wheat planting prevail in agriculture, and it also has animal husbandry (A Hart Jie Jinma, etc.).

The country is located in the Mediterranean seismic zone, therefore it is often threatened by the earthquake. In terms of diplomacy, on 12 December 1995 the United Nations recognized Turkmenistan as a permanent neutralized country.
